Poor Harry had to go back to live with the awful Dursleys, his only remaining family. But He knows his home, Hogwarts is only a summer away. Things get messy when Harry is visited by a house-elf Dobby who cautions him not to return to Hogwarts for his second year for he claims there is a plot. Dobby creates trouble and provokes the Dursleys to forbid Harry from going to Hogwarts, ever. Ron, Fred and George Weasley come to Harry’s rescue with the help of a flying car
Dobby then blocks the entrance to platform 9¾, but Ron and Harry use the car to get to Hogwarts. Dobby’s warning comes true as Harry begins to hear voices in the walls. Even in the wizarding world, hearing voices isn’t a good sign. While following the voices, the trio discovers the caretaker’s cat, in a petrified state. With a message written in blood, ‘The chamber of secrets has been opened again’.
Draco Malfoy who called Hermione a ‘mudblood’, insulting her muggle ancestry becomes a suspect owing to his pure-blood mania. The trio decides to take matters into their own hands and try to spy on Draco using magical potions. While at the library, Hermione gets Petrified. Leaving Ron and Harry to the investigation with but one crucial clue. They follow spiders, talk to ghosts and come to some conclusions. Then, the school board impeaches Professor Dumbledore. And with Dumbledore gone, there will be killings next! Muggle-borns are in grave danger. Matters get worse, when Ron’s little sister, Ginny Weasley, gets taken into the Chamber. Will they be able to save her on time and keep away the evil forces that are a threat to muggle-bones?
The second book of the series gives us information about the past of Lord Voldemort. The chamber of secrets takes our imagination to the next level as it introduces us to creatures like house-elves and Basilisks. This book is packed with humour, excitement and creativity. The chamber of secrets is remarkably charismatic, such that after reading it nothing could have stopped me from completing the entire series. The book is bizarre and climactic and it is very difficult to write a sequel of an intriguing fantasy with such peculiar details without giving away any conclusions. The second of the Harry Potter series will get you in deeper and more interested than before. Happy reading!
