Draco Malfoy, besides you-know-who, is a very well built up antagonist. His ego suffered when Harry declined his friendship, His Rampant jealousy and competitiveness for fame with Harry has portrayed him as a bossy bully through the first five books. The only son of a wealthy and Pure-blooded Death Eater, disgust for Muggle-borns has been instilled in his mind. He takes pride in the victory of Slytherin and the defeat of Gryffindor. Yet I trust all these acts sprung out of childish play.
He might have played practical jokes on our Golden Trio, but he was no killer. This shows courage for he was expected and brought up to be one. Dumbledore’s words “It is my mercy, and not yours, that matters now. Come over to the right side Draco, you are not a killer”, made me develop a soft corner for him. Being the son of a Death Eater, it is obvious that Lucius wanted him to put his faith in the dark lord and the Dark Lord alone. Yet, during the last two books, Draco’s thwart towards Voldemort was very brave. When he saved Harry’s life at the Malfoy Manor, he risked the lives of his loved ones. He developed into a kind person in the end. And all that ends well is well. I believe that Draco did what he needed to, to save himself and his family from Voldemort’s wrath. In evil there is Kindness. And his father will definitely hear about this!
