Jurda Parem, a disastrous drug, when released into the world, will cause collapse of world order and economy. The Grisha will be hunted and tortured like they were before, nowhere will be safe. The Council of merchants has but one choice : breaking into Fjerda’s shatterproof military stronghold, The Ice court and stealing the formula and the scientist. Kaz Brekker, Ketterdam’s most devious criminal, leader of one of the prominent gangs has cheated death too many times. Greed might do his bidding but death serves no one. And death might have found his calling when the merchant Jan Van Eck offered him the job. What’s more? If he fails the world and its Grisha will suffer for it. But Of course, Kaz didn’t refuse a prize of Thirty million Kruge.
To pull off such an impeccable heist, Kaz put together an impeccable crew of Six dangerous misfits, each fighting their own battles. The Barrel’s most feared spy. A sharpshooter who has a weak spot for gambling, A runaway who chose the barrel life, A Grisha Heartrender, A convicted Fjerdan who knows the ins and outs of the court and Kaz, who works heists like no one else. But this time he might have overstepped his gift for unlikely escapes. The Ice court is practically unbreachable, but then again Kaz Brekker never attempted to breach it before. Their best shot to come out unscathed would be to strike on Fjerda’s holy festival, when the Ice court opens its doors to ambassadors and entertainers from all over the world. The plan is set in motion and hopefully they won’t trigger the Fjerdans’s black protocol.
The Six of Crows is a heart throbbing crime thriller fantasy. The story is about criminal prodigies that carry out an impossible heist against all odds. The book is appropriately chaotic and every chapter brings new trouble for the crew. They plan and plan and plan and then all of hell breaks loose. It is very well plotted. The characters are dealing with more than one situation at once and yet, the outcomes aren’t ridiculous or obvious. This duology has expanded my likings and has drawn me into the world of criminal thrillers. There are entertaining and shocking surprises you cannot imagine at every stage. This a must read, line by line it excites you.. 🙂
